Rooted in Charney’s tractrix-based horn geometry, the Companion houses a full 108- inch (9-foot) horn path, a horn length shared with the Lumaca VI, engineered here into a far more compact enclosure. That geometry allows the wideband driver to develop genuine low-frequency authority and dimensional scale while maintaining the phase coherence that only a single-driver architecture can provide.

The horn loads into the room at a 45-degree orientation and is designed to breathe. Proper placement with space behind the cabinet allows the Companion to fully develop its depth, dimensionality, and expansive three-dimensional image. Scaled for medium to large listening spaces, it delivers a presentation that is robust, full-bodied, and immersive without requiring an oversized or dedicated environment.

The Excalibur Expression

The Companion Excalibur presents the Companion platform with a more assertive visual identity. Its distinctive front plate detailing and sculpted plinth create a more commanding visual presence while expressing the same level of craftsmanship. While performance remains identical to the Moderno, the Excalibur leans into the expressive character of the horn itself. It is bold, intentional, and unmistakably Charney, a visual statement that complements its acoustic authority.

Driver Options

Like the rest of the Charney lineup, the Companion is designed to accommodate a range of 8-inch wideband drivers. Voxativ and AER are both recommended and commonly selected, though the design allows flexibility based on listener preference.
