Louis D Berkman
After allowing my speakers sufficient time to break in, I wanted to share a few observations.
First and foremost, the AER BD3 driver is truly exceptional. Having owned and listened to numerous full-range drivers over the years, none have come close to delivering the level of performance offered by the AER. The ease and naturalness with which it reproduces music is remarkable. Listening feels effortless, relaxed, and completely engaging. Simply put, it removes the strain from the listening experience.
As for the CHARNEY Companion, it ranks among the most natural and enjoyable loudspeakers I have owned in more than fifty years of listening. It has also accomplished something I once thought impossible: it has put the familiar audiophile phrase "sounds like" to rest. On a great recording, you no longer hear a speaker attempting to imitate a piano, trumpet, or drum. Instead, the instrument simply exists in the room. The illusion becomes remarkably convincing.
The Companion's reproduction of the human voice is particularly extraordinary. Vocals possess a realism and presence that make performers feel physically present in the listening space. This observation isn't mine alone. Numerous non-audiophile friends have commented on the same sense of realism and engagement.
Another quality I greatly appreciate is the Companion's ability to remain enjoyable with less-than-perfect recordings. If information isn't present in the recording, the speaker doesn't attempt to artificially create it. Instead, it faithfully presents what is there, allowing the music itself to remain the focus. For me, this has been a refreshing and rewarding experience.
Needless to say, I am extremely pleased with both the speakers and the entire process of ordering and owning them. The CHARNEY Companion has exceeded my expectations and continues to provide an immensely satisfying listening experience.
