After spending some time fine-tuning placement in my room, the Companions delivered a level of performance that exceeded every expectation I had. The detail, transparency, speed, timing, decay, and bass response were remarkable, even at very low listening levels. What impressed me most was the scale of the presentation. The soundstage extended well beyond the speakers with exceptional width, depth, and height, creating a truly immersive listening experience.
Following Brian's placement recommendations, the speakers disappeared into the room and left only the music behind. The sense of realism was extraordinary. Instruments and voices occupied their own space with a level of presence that made performances feel startlingly lifelike.
What surprised me even more was how effectively the Companions combined the strengths of world-class monitors and electrostatic speakers while delivering authoritative, convincing bass. Prior to this audition, I never imagined I would become a fan of single-driver loudspeakers, much less own a pair. Keeping an open mind turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made in this hobby.
These speakers have become my personal end-game system. They possess a rare ability to make musicians sound present in the room, creating an emotional connection that goes far beyond technical performance.
As time has passed, my appreciation for the Companions has only grown. They continue to surprise me, draw me deeper into my music collection, and put a smile on my face every time I sit down to listen. Their coherence is exceptional, the presentation is incredibly smooth, and listener fatigue simply doesn't exist.
Perhaps the highest compliment I can give is that I always want to keep listening. Whether it's classical, jazz, metal, electronic, pop, or anything in between, the Companions handle every genre with ease and musicality.
